Conservation volunteering in the Galapagos

Company : Oyster Worldwide
Countries: Ecuador / Galapagos Islands
Duration: 1 week to 4 weeks
Approx Costs: 750 to 2000 £ Pound (UK)

Explore one of the most beautiful places on Earth by volunteering to help preserve its flora and fauna. See sea lions, giant tortoises, iguanas and more - and help to preserve them for future generations to enjoy too.

The Galapagos is renowned for being the birthplace of Darwin's theory of evolution. It offers unrivalled access to wildlife and beautiful locations, however the delicate environment is under threat -as humans settled the archipelago they brought animals and plants which are destroying the local species. Volunteers on this project help to remove the alien vegetation and replant species which encourage the survival of local plants and animals.

You will be volunteering 5 days per week. Tasks involve clearing alien species, replanting native species, helping in the giant tortoise centre, working within the community and completing beach clean ups.

You will be living in a vibrant little town just minutes walk from the sea. The beach that is closest to your accommodation has been voted as the best sunset beach in the world - probably because you will be sharing it with sea lions!

You can explore all that the Galapagos has to offer in your free weekends - from diving to snorkelling, from relaxing on the beach to island hopping, there is lots to keep you busy and entertained.

You will be living in shared volunteer accommodation where you will be cooking for yourself. Restaurants, bars and cafes are just minutes away.
