Volunteer with orangutans in Borneo

Volunteer with one of the world's most beloved creatures - the orangutan. Help out at an orangutan rescue centre, helping to provide these animals with a lifetime of care and protection.

Each day, volunteers help to look after orangutans that have been rescued from the illegal pet and wildlife trade. The orangutans have been brought to the centre in the hopes that they can be rewilded and returned to their natural habitat, however for many of them, they will live the rest of their lives under the care of the sanctuary and its staff.

Volunteers help with food preparation, feeding, enrichments, general maintenance and construction. The project is very hands-on, so you should prepare to get mucky and sweaty! In addition to helping out with the orangutans, you can also volunteer with the rescued sun bears and other primates.

Volunteers live in log cabins in the grounds of the sanctuary. You will be cooking for yourselves in the cabin kitchens. You will have 2 days off per week to go exploring and make the most of your time in Borneo.
